Diversity Staffing Report

Celebrating Differences. Creating Opportunities.
Reporting Period: August 2024 – August 2025

At Samara Camp, we believe our strength lies not just in the landscapes we explore, but in the diverse people who help us explore them. This report provides a transparent look into our current staffing demographics, our progress on inclusivity, and the actionable steps we’re taking to build a workforce that reflects the true diversity of India.

This is not just a staffing breakdown — it’s a reflection of our values in action.

🌐 Overview

As of August 2025, Samara Camp employs a multi-regional team of over 180+ individuals, including permanent staff, seasonal workers, local partners, and volunteers across India.

🚧 Challenges & Areas for Growth

While we’re proud of our progress, we acknowledge there are areas that need more focus:

  • Accessibility in Remote Areas: While we are inclusive in hiring, our remote camps and terrain are still not physically accessible for all roles. We aim to address this via tech integration and role diversification.
  • Language Barriers: A multi-lingual team brings richness, but also challenges in coordination and training. We’re working on multilingual training materials.
  • Disability Hiring: While we have made initial efforts, our infrastructure (especially at remote camps) needs upgrading for wider inclusion.

🛠️ Future Commitments (2025–2026)

  • Launch “Camp Without Barriers” — an internal hiring program focused on differently-abled staff and single parents
  • Expand tribal host programs to Rajasthan and Odisha
  • Offer scholarships for women in adventure tourism education
  • Build a “Diversity Council” composed of staff across all roles and identities to advise leadership
  • Invest in a language-inclusive LMS (Learning Management System) to train employees in Hindi, Gujarati, English, and regional dialects
